Plasma Spray Technician

 Job duties include:

  • Read Engine Service Manuals to determine engine component repair requirements.
  • Follow written tech plans and instructions for plasma spray, HVOF, and wire arc spray of engine components.
  • Use FANUC and ABB robots to apply thermal spray coatings.  (Rarely: Hand spray thermal spray coatings.)
  • Inspect surfaces visually for defects.  Inspect parts dimensionally using micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform necessary part preparation (cleaning, masking, grit blasting, and de-masking)
  • Perform required maintenance on equipment (rebuild gun, change powder, replace water).  Assist the maintenance department as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Participate in the cross training of other plasma spray technicians.
  • Observe all applicable safety requirements and report immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Entry-Level Requirements:

  • Any work experience, with References that you are a reliable, good employee.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Strong mechanical skills with hand tools.
  • Strong in math (addition and subtraction).
  • Reading and writing in English.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Mid-Level Requirements:

  • Must meet all Entry-Level requirements, and:
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment (painting, welding, CNC machining, HVAC technician, machine operator, robot operator, FAA repair station, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.

Top Candidate Requirements:

  • Must meet all Mid-Level requirements, and:
  • Minimum two years’ experience applying thermal spray coatings (plasma, HVOF, wire, flame, or cold spray)
  • Proficient understanding of ATA chapters associated with aviation Engine Service Manuals.
